Ole Miss Flash Rave

May 8, 2009

In true Hotty Toddy style, Ole Miss students organized a flash rave, similar to others taking place in university libraries across the nation.

Why? Because … exam stress? finals? whatever.

Where? The J.D. Williams library

When? 10 minutes only, Wednesday (May 6, 2009).

Coconut lime butter thins

May 3, 2009

So, it’s exam week. I always get to feeling empty this time of year. Classes are ending. I’m leaving professors and great classmates behind. I’m looking at lots of free time returned. Exam week itself is always a lot of great free time. As I did in France, I could probably finish my exams while still attending class. And, oh my, I graduate Friday and Saturday. I’ve yet to secure a job. So, what’s a lonely soul to do? Bake.

Baking has always been so soothing to me. It’s ritualistic, simplistic, somatic. It’s certainly part of my Willow-istic religion. To invoke the self, bake, cook, create.

These little babies sounded too amazing. I made some margarita-flavored cookies last summer, which were a tad too salty. So I was happy to try a lighter limey biscuit.

There's my key lime sweet butter. Mmmm

Vodka, the true essence of life

April 29, 2008

So, who knew vodka had so many uses, such as relieving fevers, eradicating swimmer’s ear or helping jellyfish sting? See also: shower cleaner. And, if you think about it, some cleaners are right around $10 a bottle. If vodka works better, you could get a cheap $6 bottle, dilute a bit and go at it!

Speaking of swimmer’s ear – went horseback riding yesterday, which reminds me of Girl Scout camp. It was much fun. We rode 10-11 miles? My butt hurts since I had to go in tennis shoes and I couldn’t stand up like a real cowgirl. But, of course, work never ends. It was horseback riding with a purpose: journalism. I’m such a journo-tourist.

Speaking of summer camp – I’m done with three classes (Poetry, Fiction and Racquetball), so I have one test, one paper, two written exams and one story due until … SUMMER! I really like thinking about Knoxville, a Texas road trip in August and … Angers!

I might just bake a pie this weekend.
